Plans Are Hard to Read
Elevations and site plans make sense to planners but not always to the people who live nearby. VR lets residents stand in the proposed street and see building heights, sightlines and public space as they would really appear.
Where It Adds Value
Used at drop-in sessions, VR visualisation makes consultation more informed and the feedback more specific.
- True-scale walkthroughs — heights and distances felt rather than imagined
- Viewpoint comparison — seeing the scheme from named local locations
- Option testing — comparing alternative layouts or massing
- Recorded feedback — linking comments to what was viewed

Using It Responsibly
Visuals must be accurate and not flattering by omission. Consultations should show the same viewpoints used in formal planning documents and be clear about what is fixed and what is open to change.
Headsets are not suitable for everyone, so a screen-based alternative should always be offered.
Scope and Budget
A single-site model for consultation typically costs £12k-£30k depending on size and detail, with a 6-10 week build. Agencies working with councils and developers can use our partnership service.
