The Team Knows Too Much
People who build an installation understand it instantly. Visitors do not. Watching strangers use it for the first time is the quickest way to find confusing instructions, awkward timings and hidden faults.
Simple Ways to Test
You do not need a lab. A few well-chosen observers and a clear question will teach you a great deal, and we build testing into most of our installation projects.
- Silent observation — watch without helping and note where people hesitate
- Short chats — ask what they expected to happen
- Mixed testers — include children, older people and first-time users
- Timed runs — see how long a typical visit really takes
- Photos and notes — record changes to make

Test in the Real Place
Lighting, noise and crowds change behaviour. Test in the venue or a close copy wherever possible, rather than only in the studio.
Fix the Biggest Issues First
Not every comment needs action. Look for problems that many people share, fix them and test again. Agencies can arrange testing support through our partnership programme.
