Public Use Is Harsh Use
A kiosk in a visitor attraction is used by children, tourists, people in a hurry and people who have never seen it before. It must be understood in seconds, survive rough handling and recover by itself when someone walks away mid-task.
Design Essentials
These points shape most of the kiosks we deliver through our experiential service.
- Reach and height — usable by wheelchair users and children as well as adults
- Attract loop — a short, silent animation that invites people to touch
- Large targets — big buttons and clear text for clumsy or fast taps
- Auto-reset — returning to the start after a period of inactivity
- Robust glass and housing — vandal-resistant and easy to clean

Think About the Content Behind It
Information that changes, such as opening times, events or exhibit descriptions, should be editable by staff without a developer. A simple content management system saves far more money than it costs.
Plan for offline running too, so a lost network connection does not leave a blank screen.
Specify Properly
The housing, screen brightness, power, mounting and cleaning routine all matter as much as the software. Agencies and venues can brief us through our partnership service so the hardware and the content are specified together.
