Technology in Service of the Story
Theatre audiences come for performers and story. Technology works best when it deepens the drama rather than showing off, and when it is reliable enough that actors never have to wait for it.
What Productions Use
Choices depend on the show, the venue and the budget. Our live performance projects have included several of these.
- Projection design — moving scenery on walls, floors or gauze
- Motion tracking — visuals that follow performers
- Reactive lighting — light that responds to movement or sound
- Sound triggers — effects fired by cues or actions
- Audience participation — phones or devices that influence the show

Rehearse With the Technology
Technology needs rehearsal time just as actors do. Involve the director, stage manager and performers early so cues, positions and fallbacks are understood.
Plan for Failure
Live shows cannot pause. Agree what happens if a cue fails, and keep manual alternatives ready. Production companies and agencies can talk to us through our partnership programme.
