Waiting Is Part of the Experience
At busy attractions, visitors can spend more time queuing than enjoying the ride or show. Interactive queue features turn that time into something worth remembering, and they set the mood before the main event.
Ideas That Suit Queues
The key is to entertain without interrupting the flow. Our experiential work suggests several approaches.
- Wall-mounted games — simple touch or button challenges along the line
- Reactive floors and walls — effects triggered as people pass
- Story elements — props and sound that reveal a narrative as you move
- Shared challenges — a group score built up by many visitors
- Information screens — useful wait times and what comes next

Do Not Slow the Line
Features must work for passing people, not demand long attention. Anything that makes the queue move slower defeats the purpose. Keep activities short, easy to join and easy to leave, and avoid blocking routes or creating crowds.
Accessibility matters as much in a queue as anywhere else. Provide options for visitors who cannot reach, see or hear a feature.
Build for Hard Use
Queue features are touched constantly, in all weather for outdoor lines. Pick tough hardware and plan quick servicing. Park operators and agencies can discuss this with us through our partner programme.
