After Dark Is Different
Evening events can be atmospheric, and screens and projections look striking in the dark. But lighting, crowds and fatigue also change, so a daytime plan rarely works unchanged.
Things to Plan
Test the installation at the real time of night, not just in the studio. These checks guide our evening activations.
- Screen brightness — bright enough to read, not dazzling
- Ambient light — enough to see steps, queues and cables
- Projection — dark spaces suit it, but check nearby streetlights
- Wayfinding — clear signs and lit paths to the activation
- Staff visibility — high-visibility clothing and radio contact

Think About Safety
Alcohol, tiredness and crowds raise risks at night. Make sure there are clear exits, staffed areas and a plan for emergencies. This is general information, not professional safety advice.
Check Local Rules
Councils and venues may restrict noise, light and finishing times. Ask early so the concept still works within the limits. Agencies planning evening events can talk with us through our partnership programme.
