Light as a Public Event
Lighting can turn a street, square or park into an event. Interactive versions respond to people through sound, movement or touch, giving crowds something to join in with and a reason to stay longer.
Common Formats
Our outdoor installation experience covers several typical approaches.
- Touch-responsive columns — panels or poles that glow when touched
- Sound-reactive displays — colour and movement driven by music or voices
- Motion-triggered paths — light that follows people along a route
- Countdown and switch-on moments — a timed, synchronised reveal
- Community-controlled scenes — choices made by the public

Outdoor Realities
Weather is the main enemy. Equipment needs suitable ingress protection, secure fixings and cable routes that do not become trip hazards. Power must be planned in advance, and generators brought in if the site has no supply.
Public spaces also involve permissions, road or footpath closures and neighbours, so talk to the local authority early.
Plan Backwards From the Date
Seasonal dates do not move. Work backwards from the switch-on, allowing time for design, build, testing and site access. Agencies and councils can brief us through our partner service well ahead of the season.
