More Than a Floor With Lights
An interactive LED floor is a structural, electrical and content project rolled into one. It is walked, danced and sometimes jumped on by large groups, so the engineering matters as much as the visuals.
What to Ask Any Supplier
Whether hiring a floor for one night or commissioning a fixed installation through our experiential service, these are the questions to put first.
- Load rating — how much weight per panel and per square metre, including dynamic loads
- Surface grip — slip resistance when dry and when drinks are spilled
- Power and heat — total draw, cable routes and cooling
- Sensing — pressure, infrared or camera-based, and how it copes with crowds
- Edges and ramps — safe transitions so nobody trips at the border

Venue and Compliance
The venue must be able to carry the floor and its cabling, and its management will usually want to see risk assessments and electrical test records. In the UK, portable equipment is normally expected to be tested, and fixed installations should meet wiring regulations (BS 7671).
Check public liability insurance cover for the floor itself, not just the event.
Content Is Half the Experience
A floor with weak content looks impressive for a minute and then gets ignored. Plan the content around how people actually behave on it, with calm modes for arrival and high-energy modes for peak moments. Agencies can bring us in early through our partnership service to scope the engineering alongside the creative.
