Walking Around Inside the Experience
Free-roam VR lets players physically walk through a virtual world, often in groups. It feels very different from standing in one spot with a headset, and it needs a very different kind of planning.
The Main Planning Decisions
Whether the venue is a purpose-built arena or a flexible room, our VR development work starts with the same questions.
- Floor area — enough clear space for the group size, with a safe margin around the play zone
- Tracking method — headset-based tracking or camera systems around the room
- Computing — wireless streaming or backpack computers
- Floor surface — flat, non-slip and free of trip hazards
- Group size — how many players can safely share the space

Safety and Supervision
Players cannot see the real room, so trained staff watching the space are essential. Soft boundaries, clear start and stop procedures and a way to pause the game quickly all matter. Check the headset maker's age and use guidance, and brief every group before they start.
Hygiene needs a routine as well, with wipeable face covers and cleaning between sessions.
Content and Business Reality
Pre-made games are fast to launch, while bespoke content gives a venue something nobody else has. Agencies and venue owners can discuss both routes with us through our partnership service, including how many sessions a day the space can realistically run.
