The Screen Looks Different in the Venue
Content that looks sharp on a designer's monitor can vanish in a bright hall or an atrium full of daylight. Designing for the real viewing conditions saves embarrassing late changes.
Rules of Thumb
These are general guidelines and every venue needs checking. We apply them across our installation content and the WebAR experiences seen on visitors' phones.
- Large text — assume viewers are a few steps away and moving
- High contrast — strong differences between text and background
- Short messages — a few words, not paragraphs
- Simple fonts — clear shapes that read quickly
- Safe margins — keep key items away from screen edges

Test on the Real Screen
Preview content on the actual display, at the distance visitors will stand, in lighting similar to the event. Ask someone unfamiliar with the project to read it aloud.
Think About Everyone
Good legibility helps visitors with poor eyesight, colour vision differences or little time. Do not rely on colour alone to carry meaning.
