Content That Knows Where You Are
Beacons are small transmitters that let a phone work out which zone of a building it is in. They allow messages and guides to appear at the right moment without visitors typing anything.
Where They Help
Beacons suit larger venues with many points of interest, and they pair well with our WebAR and visitor attraction work.
- Zone-based guides — information as you enter a gallery
- Wayfinding hints — nudges toward the right route
- Offers — a message when you reach a shop
- Trail progress — mark stops as visitors pass them
- Accessibility — audio descriptions triggered by location

Limits to Know
Signals bounce and fade, accuracy varies and phone settings can block messages. Visitors must also agree to use their location, so treat beacons as a helpful extra rather than the only route to information.
Respect Privacy
Be clear what is collected and why, and offer a way to opt out. This is general information, not legal advice. Agencies planning venue tech can talk to us via our partnership programme.
